This is I assume using the Plot Box approach to Printing?

We do have some issues in the Print / Print Preview from a Plotbox and I think it is typically because you have a Large Area to Print at High Resolution (with e.g. Cut Fill Maps as a pixelated image in the output), and the computer runs out of Graphics Memory in the process. If you are using TBC v5 and you have the Site Modeling or Site Construction or Infrastructure Construction Edition you have the Advanced Drafting capability now included in your solution, I would strongly recommend you to use that for all of your printing needs as that manages the Graphics memory and RAM in a far more sophisticated manner.

You could also reduce the size of your Plot Box or the resolution of your Printing to reduce the drain on Graphics memory. We also have reported issues of colored images not being complete on output using this method, and some PCs appear to me more affected than others - however it could also be the geographic size of your project and associated plotbox that drives the Pass / Fail behavior.

I can help you to better understand how to use the Advanced Drafting features if you need that - there will also be a full blog posted tonight on this that you may want to take a look at.

I don't like to say "don't use the plotbox" method, but the Advanced Drafting is by far the best way to go, and it really shouldn't be any slower - in fact once set up, I would say it is better and faster to use the Advanced Drafting functions.

If you do not have the Survey Advanced or higher level Edition inTBC v5, and you don't have the Advanced Drafting features, then I guess we need to look at your project and try to reproduce the issue that you are seeing - we would also need to know how much Graphics Memory your graphics card has and also how much RAM your PC has so we can find a similar PC at this end to test it on.

I am out on PTO for 2 weeks and will be back on Jan 4th - please let me know then how you are doing and I will engage at that point to try to help you resolve the issues.

Be aware that while you can create a "Huge" Plot box for your printout, a large amount of data memory is required to create a high resolution image of a Cut Fill Map or Elevation Map and it is that which most likely is causing your problem - if you try and Print Preview without any PDF, Aerial Imagery or Shaded Surfaces using Plotbox, my guess is that that will work no problem, it is the turning on of a shaded map or image that causes this approach to fail. I can however say that in my experience the Advanced Drafting approach has no similar issues because it more robustly handles the graphics memory etc.

Hope that this helps - please provide the data and I will get to this on my return from vacation in January.

If you need support in the meantime, please contact your SITECH dealer and have them work with Trimble Support to resolve the issue - I hate to tell you to wait for a couple of weeks because I am out of town. I apologize for that

    Thanks

Alan, I'll check out the blog when posted. Print with the plot box is quick for me but I do have the advanced drafting module and will check it out .

Thanks for getting back to me and have a Merry Christmas!
