Is there a way to get a layered pdf when printing a sheet or plan set in TBC?

I assume that you don't print pdf through PDF printer (f.e. PDF Printer, doPDF etc.). I don't know TBC but in Bentley Microstation you can print to PDF with layers through Bentley PDF driver - not windows printer and it's 3rd part pdf printers. It was necessary to turn on optional content in pdf driver and after that I was able to print PDF with layers. If TBC work similar than it would be something with pdf driver.

Currently if you are using the Sheet Layout workflows and using the Print Plan Set command to create the PDF file there is no Layer Control in that process as it stands today. I have an enhancement request in the system today for this so it is logged as a request at least.

If you use the Create 3D PDF from a View (Plan View or Sheet View for example) then it does pass Layers and Surfaces and Images out and when opened in PDF Reader it allows you to turn those on and off - after opening the PDF File, you have to click onthe Page of the 3D PDF and it takes a few seconds - then you can turn on Layer controls and then turn objects on and off etc. This may solve the issue that you are trying to solve.

I have used the Create 3D PDF but have not been able to get it to work correctly with Bluebeam. It gives an error message when trying to open and will not display anything.

    Thanks Alan!

The 3D PDF will open correctly with Adobe but seems to have issues with Bluebeam. I hope this gets addressed because Bluebeam seems to have become an industry standard for a PDF reader, at least in our territory.

I am having this same issue as Eric (PRC format is not fully supported...) Has there been any progress on this issue?

    Alan,

Do you know if there has been any interest or advancement on this?

This would be very useful for:

    • redline/ as-built drawings
    • revisions

Also, as previously mentioned the 3D PDF does not work properly with Bluebeam which is a shame because that seems to be pretty industry standard.
