Points command

  • 1.  Points command

I frequently use both siteworks and TBC and sometimes I find that using the cogo function in siteworks I can create points faster in the collector than the computer. The create point and subcommands currently involves lots of clicking when you want to repeat a command. Once I create a point for example with station offset TBC will close it and default back to point by coordinates. With siteworks cogo I can just keep entering a new station and offset or using any other command in rapid fire style. Siteworks also gives me the ability to offset from imaginary lines (select any two points).

So I was wondering if there could be any improvements to the create points to repeat commands or maybe I am missing something?

    I agree with you.

Would this work for your needs? This is a little more automated. This wouldn't work super well if the offset varies in distance however.

If this doesn't work, trying reaching out to TMLs - Rockpile Solutions . I would think this is something quick that could be turned around.

I have brought this up in the past as well.  The work around I was given was to create a spreadsheet and input them through another process, however that process was cumbersome so I just started creating the points in Terramodel and then transferred them over to TBC.

All I'd suggest is to give an option to leave the particular "Create Point" command open. That would eliminate the constant need to reopen the command each time I need to create multiple points. In addition, if I am using a point command that is referencing the same line or alignment, please have the process maintain that same line or alignment so that it does not need to be referenced each time.

This is something that is a pain for me as well. Since command can only be run one time then back to original its super annoying. You have to remember what point number/name you where on unlike the stock enter point, where it iterates point name for you.

Also why does it not maintain its layer when exporting to SCS900 V3 or Siteworks, But good ol SCS900 V2 would perserve the layer the point was on, and let you turn them on and off.

Try the new v 5.20 TML command createpoinbystationoffset.  If you make them dependent then they will move with the alignment, otherwise they stay where created.   The snap modes are designed to be used once then return to the command.  This command will make it easy to enter a lot of points by station and offset.
