How to export heat maps from TBC to Autocad

When trying to export a heat map surface to AutoCad the heat map does not come through in the cad drawing only the grid labels. Am I missing something simple?

I would try the Capture Image command to generate a High Res Georeferenced image for the Heat Map in TBC and then load that s a georeferenced image into Autocad (I assume Autocad supports georeferenced Images - but maybe you need AutoCAD Map or something to do that). Failing that try a KML / KMZ export from TBC to Google Earth - that is captured in the TBC Project Folder and my guess is that AutoCAD probably reads those files these days. The Capture 3D command also does something similar in addition to the HSF file - and those files are also stored in the TBC Project Folder - the HSF likely wont work but the associated files likely will.

Apologies I am not so familiar with all the options in AutoCAD / Civil 3D and I currently don't have my Autodesk Licenses installed so I cannot test these options out directly - let me know if any of them work for you - it would be good to know

The surface will go to DWG / DXF as 3D Faces - there are rendering options in AutoCAD that can be applied to 3D Faces if you know your way around AutoCAD (I do in part but I need it in front of me to try things out - but I ran out of space on my PC and had to sacrifice AutoCAD while getting other things backed off to an External Hard Drive (You guys are killing me with data ....)

To get the Heat Map itself you will have to export an Image Format is my guess and import the image to AutoCAD.

I will have Mike Carris our resident AutoCAD guru chime in here and give a more absolute answer

If using Civil 3D you can export a LandXML of the Surface to AutoCAD C3D and then import that surface and apply a Surface Style to it that replicates the Colors of the Heat Map - my colleague Mike Carris is recording some videos of this and posting them on Trimble Library as a K-APP if you want to take a look to see how it is done. He will also show how to send 3D Faces to AutoCAD and how to render those in a similar way.

Here is the link to Trimble Library and the correct video

if you cannot see the video (it may be because he has not made it widely available, please ping Mike on his email (michael_carris@trimble.com) and ask him to make it available to you. If you dont have an account on Trimble Library - go to this URL and set one up

    https://trimble.retrieve.com/#/

You can use your Trimble ID to Log On - you can use the store to access Free Materials, purchase training libraries etc. and you can discuss with Mike directly other things that you can do with the Library as an individual or a corporation etc.

    Hope this helps
