What does that new selection options in the MTA-configuration mean?

    - Default

    - Rail

    - PowerLines

Especially the option "Rail" sounds really interessting for me because we capture hundrets of kilometeres railroads.

    best regards,

    Andreas

    What is MTA?

I found that explantation in the TBC Help:

"...you can choose to extract scans from the raw data files, either completely directly or through an intermediate step named MTA. MTA (Multiple Time a Round) comes into play when collecting data at high sampling rates, which may cause ambiguity in the distance, allowing points with the wrong distance information to be recorded. To solve this problem, the MTA Correction module automatically detects and corrects the wrong distance information by applying the correct MTA range." (just translated from google, because Ive only the german version)

Where is the difference between that options? Should I choose the option "Rail" every time I captured railways?

    best regards,

    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

You may click the Advanced Settings to see detailed parameters and adjust the values. And yes, you will choose the Rail template every time you process a new railway dataset. As you may tell, this feature is in the primitive stage right now and a lot of technical details have been hidden. If you feel that you'll need more help configuring the Rail template, please contact imaging_support@trimble.com and our colleagues will be able to offer more tools.

    Thank you.

    Hi Andreas,

This is a new feature we just added to 5.11 to filter noise in the MX9 datasets. When you choose the Rail template, the deviation range would change, so the noise caused by beam bouncing near the railhead will be eliminated, creating cleaner point clouds.

For more information, you may search for "noise filter" in TBC Help Doc. We will also upload a video talking about these new features to the TBC YouTube channel in the next couple of days. Stay tuned.

    Thank you.

Hi Rui, if I have datasets which also include embedded rails: Should I stay by selecting the rail template for those missions?

    Best regards,

    Andreas

Sorry Andreas for not logging in for so long. If railroad is the main feature you need to work on in this project, then do apply that filter. If you are going to work on other features and just happen to have some railroad tracks in your project, feel free to stay with Default.
