Editing Lines with UCS

I've imported 3D CAD linework for a large highway project that was created from an InRoads DTM.  I converted these lines to Linestrings using the elevate lines trick.

There are a select number of lines that have come in with a UCS - I'm not sure why this is? It appears to be random - some of the lines that were created from the InRoads DTM will be unaffected while a couple of lines from the same DTM have the UCS. These lines are not editable - I cannot break or trim them. Is there a workaround for this?

I searched and it seems older versions of the Project Cleanup tool had something to address lines brought in with a UCS, but I'm not seeing that on my tool in v4.11.

    Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Logan,

The "Cannot edit arc - Troubleshooting" implies that the only solution is to "Remove the UCS from the object by opening the source file in a CAD program (such as the one the arc was created in); reset the coordinate system to the World Coordinate System (WCS), save the file, and re-import it into this program." I do not know if this can be done in InRoads DTM, (and if the UCS seems to have been applied randomly, it might be difficult), but you might try that first. Or import the source file into another CAD program to edit the UCS.

I am not aware that the Project Cleanup command ever fixed UCS issues, but I will check with the development team and reply here.

    Hello

Has there been any movement on this issue? I have a file that was created in InRoads that is full of these problems and there seems to be no way to fix it. I do no have access to the software to fix it in there.

The lines all appear in the right place but cannot be edited.

    Cheers

    Hi Sam and Logan,

Try using the Cutting Plane View command to create a profile view (cutting plane view) based on a 2D plane that you define to match a line's UCS and then edit the line in that view.

    Hi All

This may still be of interest, I have stumbled upon a solution for this. You can use the "project cleanup" routine. But you need to run it only on the object or objects you are using the UCS error with. This routine will somehow fix the problem and the linkwork can be edited as normal.

    Cheers

Sam, which options did you use in Project Cleanup to fix the UCS issue? Thanks.

Have you tried the ConvertToLinestring command?
