Can not get Trimble Business Center 5.32  to install on a new computer.  The company I work for got hit by a ransom attack and we are rebuilding all our machines.   I download the offline installation file.  I try to do a "Complete" install but it only gets to started and then gives me the

    InstallShield Wizard Completed

The wizard was interrupted before Trimble Business Center (64-bit) completely installed.

Does anyone have a guess what I am doing wrong?

Have you used the cleanup utility to remove the previous installation completely - if you have not tried that I would do that first.

I had a similar issue a few weeks back with another user - I could not resolve it, however the customer persevered and looked up problems using Google and found a restart method that allowed them to suspend things that were running at start up so he could get the install to work - if your computers have had recent rebuilds you need to check the following

    1) Do you have all the Windows Updates installed

    2) Do you have the latest Graphics Driver installed for your Graphics Card

    3) Do you have all the latest System Tools, Bios, Drivers etc installed from your PC supplier eg Dell

    4) Have you run Cleanup to clean out any old installs of TBC 100% so you have a clean start point

If you are running WIndows 10 - you can tell the installer to not install DirectX as that is installed and managed by the Operating System in Windows 10 and that is sometimes the thing that stops the installer from working

If when you have done all the above you are still getting a blockage of some kind, you may need to restart your PC in Safe Mode or this BIOS change at Startup to suspend things that are typically run on Boot Up to enable TBC to install - that is fairly rare that we see this and is normally caused by some system incompatibility with your computer setup - I apologize that I struggle with those things also when they happen and often Google   (while it may take time to find the right answer) can often provide some insight as to what you may have to do to fix it.

If you need further help, then I would raise a Technical Support Ticket with your dealer and get the Trimble Support team involved as they have more experience in troubleshooting Installation problems once they get above the usual steps that I go through with people - in most cases those steps above will get people working - the Bios issue etc is a last resort.

    Just got the problem fixed.

Got an email for Chad Davis at SitechSouth

    Here is the message

    Andy,

Just heard back from Trimble and they offered this suggestion.

“Go into the install folder and then go into the TBC folder.  From there right click on the msi and run as administrator.”

Please let me know if that made any difference or if you’ve had any headway on having IT disable the firewall temporarily for installation.

    Best Regards,

    Chad

This worked fine.  Thanks for you help.

The installer fails when it tries to install .net 472 and does not continue. Fails during silent installs because of this.

The product should not fail on installing as it does, the only sollution seems to be is script everything manually.

Unless the installer gets updated how are users going to install?

Have you tried installing in Administrator mode. Find the MSI installation file in the Installation folders and then right click and select Run as administrator.

Please also check that your Windows System is Up To Date by running check for updates and install all available updates. Also check your system drivers etc. from your PC Supplier and install all recommended updates to your system. Also check your graphics Card Drivers and make sure that they are also up to date. Then Reboot your PC and try installing again. Often these issues are traceable to out of date system setups that clash with the latest installation of TBC.

If that fails you can try deselection of items in the Custom Installation and just install the TBC application

If that fails then you might want to try deinstalling the prior version and then run the Cleanup Utility and then try installing again to see if that works. Reboot after running the Cleanup Utility.

If that fails it could be something in your system setup that is blocking the installation, I have had a couple of instances of that in the past and that is a trick to resolve - it typically involves going into the Bios Setup on Boot Up and you can try running in Safe Mode first to see if that allows you to install. If that fails, I have had people tell me that there are settings that allow you to disable things at start up that then allows them to install TBC. These are typically corporate IS setup things that may block the installation from running correctly.

Unfortunately your setup falls into the small minority of cases where the setup programs fail to operate correctly. If these ideas don't resolve the issues, I would open a support ticket with your dealer and have them get Trimble Support involved to resolve this with you, those guys do this way more than I do and will be able to get you up and running.
