    Hi Matt,

Woody also asked this question, there is an easy way to export DWG's for certain Cross Sections, see how here: Is there a way to export dwg files from cross sections?

    Cheers,

    Matt

If you have a Cross Section Sheet(s) created the data on those sheets is Linework and Text. You have the following options to Export to AutoCAD - the method you use is dictated by what you want in AutoCAD

    1) If you open the Cross Section Sheet in a New Sheet View. You can select all of the data in the Sheet View, or just the Sections that you want from all those available, with or without the Sheet Borders and Titles Information. If you send this to a DWG File it will output the Sections in Model Space so that when you open them in AutoCAD they will be found in the Model Space View. Note that if you want Cross Sections from several sheets in AutoCAD Model Space, that you should output each sheet separately and then move the imported Sheet data in the Model View of Autocad before importing the next sheet. You could also define a Custom Sheet in BC-HCE that is large enough to get all the Cross Sections on one sheet and then you can select them all in one go and export them to AutoCAD. Because each SHeet has the same Origin and Size, any data will be overlaid in the same XY space so it will overwrite if you select multiple sheet data in one go and export to AutoCAD

    2) If you want the Cross Section Sheets in AutoCAD Paper / Layout Space, then you can simply select the Cross Section Sheets that you have created from The Project Explorer in BC-HCE and export those to DWG. When they are imported into AutoCAD they will be drawn in the Layout Space on x separate layouts named as they were in BC-HCE. This then gives you exactly what you had in BC-HCE. Make sure that your Layout Spaces are set to the same paper size as that which you are using in BC-HCE or resize the paper in AutoCAD after you have imported the sheets in Layout space.

If you want to select just certain Cross Sections in BC-HCE and then export the selected Cross Sections, what I would do would be as follows

    1. Create a Block for each section that you want to transfer, selecting just that data from the Cross Section Sheets
    2. Start a new Mixed Sheet Sheet (Create a Custom Sheet) (if using the new ARCH templates provided at PUG last week)
    3. Use the Insert Block to place the required cross sections on the Mixed Sheet Sheet that you created in (2) above. Repeat for each Cross Section Block that you created.
    4. Now that you have what you want on one sheet, you can do option (1) or Option (2) from above to create the DWG export for AutoCAD of just the sections that you want to send out.

Hope that this answers your question
