When creating an alignment from an elevated line, how can I get the vertical stationing to match the horizontal stationing?  It always starts at 0+00 and can't be blanket changed by changing the first station, like you can in the horizontal tab.  Unless I'm missing something.  This is being done to create curb and sidewalk alignments for a clients Topcon machine and they've been having problems with the machine locking up when stationing is going negative, if they adjust in the field, say 50 ft. to blend into existing match points, so instead of starting alignments at 0+00, we want to start them at 100+00 both on the horizontal and vertical to eliminate going negative on stationing.

After you have the alignment created, select the alignment line and right click. Select profile view.

Select the line in profile view, then use the move command. Click the beginning of the line for point 1, then in the point 2 box, type in the following format 100+00, 500. The first number will be your starting station. Then second number is the elevation of the station. Make sure 3D move is selected and click OK.

That will move the vertical to match your horizontal.

Thanks, Mike.  This works great.  Was hoping that the program would default the vertical stationing to the horizontal when creating the new alignment.  This seems like extra steps that would be an easy fix with an option box in the software. 

This works great unless there is a station equation. Helpful, but I agree with OP, the VT should automatically change with the HZ. Or at least be an option.
