Copy And Paste Between Projects

If I want to take some info from one project and put it in another I currently export it as a dxf and then import the dxf into my new project, this feels time consuming and after a while you end up with a load of dxf files to get rid of.  Is it possible to copy and paste entities from one .vce project to another, (much like you can in ACAD).  Terramodel used to have a function where you could quickly export a very small .tmx file and import that to the new project.

And also it would be great if you could copy objects from ACAD and paste them directly to your tbc project.

If not, any ideas if this is something which may be possible in the future?

You can do a VCL Export (Under Export  Construction Tab). This is similar to TMX out and In in Terramodel - all objects are transferred in their TBC Native Forms and dependent objects are automatically selected (if you pick a surface made from Points and Lines and export the Surface the Points and Lines are also sent to the VCL file). This is the simplest and easiest way to share data between projects.

    Hi Alan,

Is there any equivalent to Terramodels 'refile' (equivalent to ACAD XREF) and 'pcopy' commands? I currently use these two commands to transfer data between terramodel projects without the need to generate transfer files (.vcl in TBC or .tmx in terramodel). Im new to TBC and haven't found an equivalent yet, but believe this is a very clean way of 1: graphically referencing another project file, and 2: transferring data between project files.

    thanks

I use the "reference files" in Terramodel constantly. I reference a file, then do a "project copy" which allows me to only copy the data I want from multiple files without having to open them and make export files. A function similar to that would be very helpful.

This would be an amazing addition.  I use this feature in Civil 3d all of the time, it's definitely the simplest way to transfer data from one project to the next.  I use multiple TBC files for the same project often, and it's a pain to export and reimport as vcl.  Sometimes it's just one or two objects that need to transfer.  But the vcl is a nice addition to keep TBC entities.  I'm not sure how a copy/paste would be represented in the Import files section of the project.  I really enjoy the data attribute that TBC adds to objects to reference where they came from.
