Calibration File

I normally create the site model and send the SCS900 and GCS900 files to the client and do not hear from them again until the next project.  with the advent of Earthworks, i will need to get the calibration file.  what is the best file to have the client export and send to me to add to the BC file.

Just have them send you the .cal file from the SCS Controller that was used to calibrate the site. It's in the Trimble Syncronizer Data folder typically "C:\Trimble Synchronizer Data\Controler name\Trimble SCS900 Data\Project\" and drop it into your project.

The .CAL gives you all of the data - if you ever have to check or change the SIte Cal you would need this file

The .DC gives you the Result data of the calibration which is all you need to set up the machines

    Either file works

If you have any GCS900 machines on site the .CFG file will also work

If you have Survey Controller or Trimble Access doing the Site Cal then the JXL file (Job File) is what you would need from them

There is an app called File Flipper by Trimble that will change all of your GCS files to earthwork files pretty easily.

Tom, that is what is happening now, but some are starting to ask for the real Earthworks data structure.  which has increased in complexity and the calibration needs to be in TBC/BC-HCE prior to export..  Trimble, not sure why they made it so convoluted, they are smarter than that.

    thanks for the help

Ron, I hear you. The hardest part of using the earthworks machine was learning how to get files on board!

    I'm sure Trimble's listening.

Go take a nice long motorcycle ride now, come back and everything will be better :-)

If you have a modern version of TBC to export to Earthworks, assuming you are using the Job Site Manager for exporting to GCS900, you just have to user the Publish to Library option. It will deal with putting everything in the correct place, and automatically version the files if needed.
