Station and offset reports

  • 1.  Station and offset reports

I have created CL beams for a bridge and made each one an alignment so that I can generate a station and offset report on 10th points for each beam. When I run the report, my first and last point are not coming up. These points are at the start and end of the alignment, but are not beyond it. Is there a setting or something I am missing? I would like to be able to get the report for any points, even if they are before or after the actual alignment by any dist. Is it possible to get a report with say STA -1.00 from an alignment?

I just created an example Beam on a straight line 200' long with a Symmetrical VC in the middle, and then I ran the Station and Offset Report - you have to make sure that you check the box to report "include horizontal alignment points as the Start and End are Alignment Points not Interval Locations as shown below. If you do that you should get a report that looks like the one shown below - you can see that Station 0 and 200 are reported as would be expected

I ran the Station, Offset, Elevation Report to get this output to Excel

Am I missing something here or does this answer the question?

This is not exactly what happens when I run it. Here are three examples. The first is when I have everything checked as shown in your example. This has all sorts of data I do not need. The second is if I only check “Include line points”. This is more what I would want. Problem is neither report has #21790 in it. The third is the same points in a Terramodel report. This has everything I need and what I am used to. My other question is if I have a point that is past the end of the line, can I include it in the report? In my TM report you’ll see there are two extra points. One before the start and one after it ends. Is this possible in TBC? It seems like if a point is beyond the line in either direction, it will not be included in the report. I also attached my “alignment” and the points. Thanks.

The current report does not report points that are outside of the alignment, only those inside the alignment limits. There are issues when you start reporting data outside of the alignment limits of course like "what is the elevation delta to the CL (you can of course leave that blank or not report Elevation Deltas" what is the Station Value and how is that computed - when we Explore objects in relation to an Alignment we don't currently report a Station and Offset of the point if it is outside the limits of the alignment.

I can ask Development what it would take to add that capability, I am sure that it is possible, but there may be reasons why it is not currently done.

The report using these settings will generate the same data as the Terramodel Report you shared with the exception of the points outside the limits of the alignment. The Elevation column is in a different place to the Terramodel Report, otherwise the report is all but identical. ( reported only Points and did not select the alignment.

You could extend the alignment Short and Long of the existing length if needed - appreciate that Extending an alignment is not the simplest thing to do however - I recorded a video on how to do that if you need it (below)

Click Here for the Extend Alignment Video

I will let you know when I hear back from development on the Report

As always, thanks for taking the time to look into it.
