TBC - Takeoff Overexcavation

Is there a way to specify an overexcavation to a closed bounded line and associated surface that pulls the elevation and limits?

    Thanks!

I am not completely sure what you are asking to do.  In the takeoff process we can specify overexcavation, however it may not be what you are thinking.  The user can specify an additional amount beyond the site improvement that gets removed and then replaced.  This is typically done when the soil has to be removed, mixed with another product and then replaced.

If you are looking to excavate beyond the boundary of a site improvement, this can only be done by creating a new surface and calculating the surface to surface volumes.

If you have some examples to describe what you want to do, you can post them and we will review for consideration in a future release.

    Thanks for the quick feedback!

I get the floor of subex represented as a 3D closed linestring that is not a constant elevation.  Nor is the subex floor a standard depth from finished floor elevation.  It'd be really helpful if I could assign a 3D linestring to be the extents and elevation of the subex floor in the takeoff command so as to get those quantities reported alongside the rest of the mass earthworks quantities respective to the original ground, finish grade, etc.

Does it follow a strata layer?  Can you send me an example drawing or project file.
