We had a brief meeting today with the engineer firm that made the plans we are using for one of our project.  I have exported a XML to them my existing ground surface created from my processed feature codes points and line ( this was about 2 months ago). There has been times where my break lines would get removed from my surface so I ended up changing my surface setting to rebuild by User.  My surface display would show correct with all my breaklines.  There is a warning on my existing surface in the project explorer telling me to rebuild since there has been changes.  So not to rebuild my surface again knowing that the surface is correct I left the surface with the rebuild warning.  

Today we meet and they show me that where their survey's shot a ditch our surface I sent over does not show a ditch.  I show them my project and my existing shows a ditch.  So I export my surface and import into a clean project.  Well, low and behold my surface has no ditches.   I got to thinking that my export surface somehow was exported with the rebuilt surface and not my current surface on my screen.  Is this a bug  and if indeed it is, can we get this fixed.

You should rebuild and export out the xml. Set your setting for the Surface description in the XML exporter to Points and Breaklines.

that bottom image is how it looks like when I do rebuild.  the top image is the correct design.  I have some problems with processing the feature codes and later relayering all points and lines.  sometimes I will add new breaklines after review the surface and these two step will mess with my surface I have create from the process feature codes.  so I dont have the surface rebuilt when my point or lines from when i relayered everything gets removed frrom my surface ( TBC does this ) i change the setting to rebuild by User.

Alan, as alway thank you.  I have a handle on this situation.  If it means anything for future problems.  Say someone wanted to export their surface even with a needed rebuild.  They export the surface and it is exports as the surface as if it was rebuilt.  Or atleast give a warning when exports a surface that a rebuild is in pending.  I just assumed the  surface that was displayed on the screen even thou there is a needed rebuild,  would be the surface being exported.  For now all is good i re-added all my break lines again to fix my broken surface.
