Corridor by Phase

We are begining to being ask to run earthwork quantities by Phase (road/highway projects).  I have found to add the subgrade material to another material to have a combine total subgrade surface.  This will allow us to do a earthwork surface to surface report.  The bad part I run into is the surface to surfae will not allow the use of two(2) boundaries.  I create boundaries by using linestrings.  One of out project managers that has been trying to fiqure out ways to do earthwork by phase says he using site regions.

Is there any difference from using linestring and site region to run a surface to surface?   Can it be possible to run more then one(1) boundary when running a surface to surface earthwork report?

What version of TBC are you running?

The Earthwork Report command allows you to select multiple boundaries.   Is that the command you are using?

The Takeoff Report command creates a new surface with the materials removed then does a surface to surface computation.  This would typically be slower than the Earthwork Report command.  The advantage is that it will sum all of the areas.  Using the Earthwork Report creates a report section for each boundary but does not add them all together.

The Corridor Earthwork command can be used if you have multiple subgrade layers in your corridor.  If you use the excel option for reporting you will get both the volumes and surface areas for each boundary you select.  When multiple boundaries are selected then each one is presented on a new tab.

    Hope this helps.

I am running 5.10.2.  Would it make a difference if i use a linestring when i select multiple boundaries?  I uselinestring as my boundary.

I recently noticed when i run my total subgrade,  my surface is not designed as I created it in my corridor.  I step out my subgrade and that is where i now am having issues with my surface.  I can not use my corridor to create a surface that I can use to do a surface to surface.  For now it seems as if I will have to create a corridor for each phase and add my subgrade so I can run a corridor report.

Anyone have other ways of doing dirt by phase in TBC?

    Any closed line should work.

You may want to send me your file and a video of what you are trying to do and a description of what you have.  You may also want to contact your dealer and have them come by and look at what you are trying to accomplish.  They can provide more hands on training if needed.  It sounds like you need more than can be provided in a forum.

    thanks
