Survey Pro - Linework Name?

  • 1.  Survey Pro - Linework Name?

      Anyone running Survey Pro in the field.  Since I have started at my current company 5 years ago,  I have taught the field guys about maps.  They have not used maps and the senior party chief has started to use them for layouts more.  Its to bad that they only use them for minimal work.  I started out in the field and had to transition from Survey Controller to Survey Pro.  The One of the trickest things I could not get to work was Line Name.  Well, after finding out the Terramodel does a bad job of keeping the names and that TBC will keep the line name.  I tried it and still did not get the line name in Survey Pro.  

      Is there something I am missing beside giving the linework a name when I create a linestring?  Does Survey Pro accept linework with names?  

      The Second issue I found in Survey Pro was the ARC Lines. I noticed only in my controller that the ARC Line was not in the location where the map showed it to be.  I would have to pick in space near the ARC Line to find the actual line.  Is this  an issue within Survey Pro?

    I just tried in my emulator, v6.5.1.1, and I am not seeing anything for line names. We only have one person, our senior surveyor, using Survey Pro so I cannot speak too much on it. 

     

    He uses it primarily for points like you mention your crews do. I do know it will handle the same files and surfaces that I supply to SCS900/Siteworks. 

     

    I know for SIteworks, I name my lines what ever the layer is. Are you aggregating this data more or could you use layers instead? It looks like it does a good job of show layers especially in areas where you may select on more than one line.

    I just downloaded and tested  6.6.1.19 and didn't not see the names coming through.

    From what I was told by someone , that the line names from Terramodel will not be part of the property line when imported into Survey Pro.  However it will be part of the properties if renamed in TBC.  Which is not the case.  
    I actually have been looking for a emulator for Survey Pro with no luck.  I’ve been trying to get the field crew to dig deeper into Survey Pro more.
