Use the "Advanced View Filter Settings" button (from the VF manager). If you set a color there, that will override the layer's color so lines with ByLayer color will display this color.

We will shortly be releasing a tool that also allows you to override colors in a View Filter that pro ises an ability to change color, linestyle and lineweight of any feature shown in a view filter that has the attribute set to By Layer - this will also provide a way to map full color to Grey Scale or Black White and Red etc. If you need a Highlight color for emphasis or Magenta if you want to highlight Markups on a drawing for example - we will be showing this at next week's Power Hour
