We have a JPEG2 or JPEG 2000 form an imagery site. Can we import this imagery in JPEG2 format into TBC or TBC with the GIS module?

I use that type of file frequently from the NYS GIS Clearinghouse website.  It will not go directly to TBC.  You need a free program call Geoviewer made by a company called LizardTech.  Once you install the software, you go to the file menu/Add Local Layer and pick you image(s).  Then go to Tools/export/map, select GeoTiff for the format, and full resolution for the size.  Then you can import that image file into TBC.

    Wayne,

Thank you for your solution! Coincidentally, the imagery attached to this post was from the NYS GIS Clearinghouse.I used Geoviewer and followed the procedure above and the image imported into TBC.

I should pose the question to Trimble: Can we develop an importer for these file types ? Especially for the GIS module.

    Again, thank you!

    Regards,

I am glad it worked for you.  The GIS clearinghouse is a valuable info source that I use a lot.

It can't hurt to ask about an importer for jpeg2000 and mrsid images, but I have never seen another legit software that could handle them which makes me think they are proprietary to lizardtech.

    Cheers.
