Is there a way to have TBC place the name of a closed feature (rectangular or polygon) in the centroid of the feature after processing the feature codes. For example placing the name St. John's Church within the drawing of the building?

For example placing the name of the feature e.g. Harry's Bar within the drawing of the bar.

The name should be entered while gathering data in the field. This would lessen the chances of wrong naming.

Use the Label Polygons function. Set up a Label with the Smart Text that you want (e.g. Name, Area, Perimeter etc.) in the Label Styles setup, and then use the Label Polygon Routine to place the Labels - it puts them at the centroid of the shape auromatically.

The name of the feature is to be entered in the data collection phase in

the data collector. On processing, the name is placed in position when the

    feature is drawn.

this comes in handy if a road survey is being done in a built up area, the

names of the buildings would be entered into the system at the time of

survey reducing the chances of incorrect naming.

Maybe a control code in the feature code library would do it.

    For example

    BLDG "JOHN'S BAR"

    BLDG ST

    BLDG

    BLDG

    BLDG CL

    BLDG "SCHOOL"

    BLDG ST

    BLDG

    BLDG

    BLDG CL

On processing the feature codes in TBC, the names JOHN'S BAR and SCHOOL

will be placed in their respective rectangles.

    Hope this explains it better.
