How and what is the best way you all have found to record videos of your screens for sharing?

    Thanks

Depending on your video card, you *might* have a solution built in. Radeon has ReLive and Nvidia has Shadowplay.

My personal computer has ReLive on it, and it has very little impact on the system as it is recording.

If those are not an option, I have had good luck using x-split (paid program) in the past to capture my screen. It is primarily meant for streaming video live, but has good options to record locally.

A free one is FRAPS, but that program, last i tried it, recorded in a raw uncompressed format and the files get big in a hurry.

Hope this helps out a little bit.

Snagit works great for me and is fairly easy to use. Cost is around $50 and you can install on multiple devices

I use Snagit but honestly I don't love it.  I have never used any other screen recording software so maybe they are all the same but I find the way that you need to start recording to be cumbersome.

I agree Snagit 2019 is the way to go, I use it on my PC and the Tablet for SIteworks and SCS900 to create training videos.

OBS is where it's at.  Free, highly customizable, and I haven't noticed any software lag while running it.

Techsmith also hve a product that is free called Jing that does a pretty good job for quick Screen Captures etc. I use Camtasia from Techsmith as that has good Editing and production Tools. Snagit is also good for Screen Grabs and Short Videos - I like it because it has a Delay function that allows you to open some self collapsing dialogs before the capture kicks in so you can screen grab things that re otherwise hard to capture, it also has a Screen Scroll Capture tool which is good to capture a Picture of a screen Report that maybe bigger than one screen high which is also a helpful tool. Once those tools are set up they are pretty easy to use. I also use the Windows Snipping Tool, however I have found that running that with different resolution monitors doesn't work well it changes your screen res before the capture so what you want to capture is no longer visible etc.) so Snagit or Jing for me are good options.

I use screencast-o-matic, mainly because I like the name

you're limited to 15 mins but I find that's long enough for anybody to endure.
