1) The Reference line has to be a HAL
2) A single Point Label Style can only reference one alignment. If you are labeling points to different alignments, each different alignment will require a copy of the Point Label Style that references the different alignment. You can change the alignment in a Point Label Style but that will re reference all points labeled with that style to the new alignment which is not likely to be what you wanted. Create a new Point Label Style, using the original as a reference and then use the new alignment and or surface in the new point label style.
3) (2) also applies to the reference surface. Each Style can only reference one surface. If you want to reference a different surface on some points then they will need a new Point Label Style.
4) You need to reference the Point Label Style first and then use Label Points to Label selected points with the Style. Once labeled the poin labels reference the Label Style Selected. If that Style is updated with a new Alignment, A New Surface or changes to the way the label is defined, those changes will affect all previously labeled points with that Label Style as well as all future points that are labeled.
