SID/MrSID File into TBC

Does anybody know of a way to import a SID georeferenced image file into TBC? Does it require a special module and/or add-on? Has anyone else had this issue? They open just fine in Civil3D, I am trying to avoid opening a 4gb image in TBC when the SID file for the same image is is only 400mb. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know you need to use the free LizardTech software to convert the MrSID/JPEG2000 image files into geotiffs, which then as you stated makes the image file bigger by 10 times or more.

Another option that we use successfully is purchase a GlobalMapper license (~ $600) and you can convert .SID to the formats that TBC 5.51 supports - GeoTiff, .JPG/.JPW (not JP2), .ECW/.EWW files. GlobalMapper allows you to not only convert image type and decompress MrSid raster files, but very quickly change coordinate systems of geospaital data (CAD, LiDAR data, Imagery) to the coordinate system of your TBC project. And units as well. Well worth the small fee to have it and it can handle very large datasets, very quickly.

You can also use QGIS for free to convert MrSid to a format TBC can use.
