Hello, I am looking for a place to submit ideas for the developers to implement into the code. Is there anyplace like that?

For example,

• I would like to export the local job settings for a particular job and import it into another job. Or even be able to read it without opening the TBC job and clicking settings. 
• Or I would like be able to put points with a particular code into a particular layer on import
  • Example point code "SE" will be in a layer called "Pnts-SpotElev"

If someone knows a place, I would love to submit some ideas. ESRI does this and has the community vote up or down the idea. Here is an example website

Hi Brandon,

I was flipping through the discussion listings and noticed that no one had replied to your post.

Last summer one of the product managers mentioned exactly what you're looking for:

"I am working with the team that administers this community to provide a way for capturing ideas and defects and allow for a way to vote on such items so that I can prioritize and provide feedback on such asks. This setup will take some time, so I ask for your understanding as I look into all the moving pieces to make this happen."

That was Aug 7, 2020 and in late November/December 2020 the company that hosts the forums changed.  So I'm not sure on the status of that project.

In the meantime, this forum may be your best/only option.

Some people put "Feature Request" or "Enhancement" in their post titles.

I've seen Trimble support staff and TBC product management post here - so there are folks from the TBC team that might see your post.

And of course, third party companies (Rockpile, Revenant, etc.) that create TMLs (TBC macros) are on this forum too.  (You could post on the TML forum, but I don't think the TBC team nor Rockpile really watch that one.)

Hi Brandon - I asked a similar question on the forums today (asking about how to submit bugs specifically) - and got a response from Trimble Support.

You're supposed to send your bug reports and enhancement requests through your Trimble authorized dealer.  They can review your description and submit a Case to their contact in Trimble Support.  Then Trimble Support can decide next steps, etc.

Hope that helps.  Of course, you're still more than free to post ideas on the TBC forums to get feedback from fellow users - or to pique the interest of TML developers :)​

"Go through local dealer". Gave up on that long ago. The system of going through your local dealer is an unnecessary layer of (non) communication that insulates (isolates) the TBC development team (?) from having to do proper support like any other major software company.

I go through my vendor regularly for Trimble Access suggestions, and they push ideas to Trimble and get answers from Trimble on certain issues.  Some of my ideas have been implemented in TA.  For TBC, I'm part of their beta users.  Largely corporations would rather deal with vendors and distributors rather than "everyone in the world", which would be a lot more people and "noise" potentially.   This is why going through vendors is the better method.

Robert: Of course, the assumption is that all vendors will do that. I am definitely not interested in "going through a vendor" to get support when most of the time I have more first hand knowledge than they do and need answers more quickly than 'sometime in the future'. Layer Manager improvements spring to mind as an example. We're going on a few years with that one...
