TBC Material and Site Improvement (MSI) Manager external data

    Hello everybody!

I was wondering that is there a way to have materials and all the data

imported to MSI Manager by (for example) .csv file?

Or is there a way to import other than manually?

Because creating it all by hand and changing the costs takes bit more time.

Our customer also uses those costs in other calculations so they need them

elsewhere so it could be handy if even importing the .csv could be possible.

And maybe later on open API to search data from external data source to

    MSI Manager would be great.

    Thank you!

I don't think there is any way to do it with built in tools.  You can however do a couple of the materials and site improvements as an example then save them to an external library .mxl file.  You can then open that .mxl file in Visual Studio, see how it is formatted, apply that formatting to your data in excel and copy and paste and save.  Good luck!

    Hi Wayne.

    Thank you for the answer.

    Have to check that idea.

    Cheers!

    Antti,

Thanks for your question! Can you provide an example of what you would like to be able to import into MSIM? I'd be interested to see that and how it's used in other software so we can better integrate with your workflows.

    Hi Charlie!

Unfortunately those codes are our customers company's own material codes and I am not allowed to share them.

They would like to add a code for every material so it would be easier to handle all the data in all softwares.

For example they have a construction site and one part of it is Earthmoving.

They have list as .csv of all materials and codes they want to use.

    (material)Asphalt AB22,(code)A12345,(volume)m³

    (material)Grass rolls,(code)A67890,(volume)m²

    etc.

They want to do all site takeoffs and planning and when they are ready they want to

export that data in custom format in .csv which would look the same as import:

    Asphalt AB22,A12345,1430m³

    Grass rolls,A67890,670m²

They use the A12345-codes in their other programs where they calculate also

other costs like building materials and they have database where all the latest

    prices are.

I believe importing that list is not so critical because codes can be added to the material name in MSIM

Asphalt AB22/A12345 and they create a site takeoff report and in Excel they create a macro to separate the name and the code

    when exporting.

I believe it would be really handy to have possibility to create full custom .csv export

on takeoff report but I am not aware that what the limitations are now.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the clarification, Antti! I will work with engineering to add a cost code field and add that information to a simple Excel type report.
