Is there any way of converting a CAD polymesh to a TBC utility network?

Where does this data come from Autocad or 12d?

Is it really just Trimeshes, or maybe 12d's drainage data?

Since you're located in Auckland you might be entitled to use SITECH's ANZToolbox. That installs a much better 12d importer than the one from Trimble.

Have a chat to your Trimble Dealer in that case.

    Hi Ronny

Data is in a DWG format with no pipe networks within the file

Think it has been done in Bentley or 12D and export out to CAD

Many thanks for the ANZ toolbox tip that's great I'll have a chat with the sitech guys over here

Just for the record, the 12D importer has been written and supported by the ANZ team for a long time now, while Trimble wrote the original it was agreed between Trimble and the Australian Dealer that they would take it on because they see the data changes that 2D makes continuously and can react better to local needs than Trimble can. The same applies to things lie REB for mat for Germany or MX GENIO Support for MX.

If the data originates in Civil 3D if you can get them to output the Utilities in LandXML format you can use that data directly in TBC. Polyface Meshes are just that - polyface solid representations of the pipes and nodes, and do not carry the Utility data like Stations, Run Numbers, Pipe Types, Utility Network Types etc. The LandXML carries that type of data so that we can to a large extent use the information provided directly in the utility model of TBC.
