So far I have found that the update....

    Fixed Digitize Cross Section.
Did not fix DWG import issue.

After working through the issue with Charles' DWG file, I found there are some issues rendering some datasets from third party software.

The below steps may be helpful for anyone experiencing issues after importing large DWGs (this one being 109MB) when the plan view goes blank with no gridlines (if gridlines are turned on) as a result of the automatic zoom extents when importing a file. You may also notice the coordinate scroll has extremely large values that don't change as you move the cursor around the plan view.

In order to work with this data set, try this:

    • Turn off all layers in the View Filter Manager
    • Zoom Extents (this should render the gridlines again and move the plan view to a very small window at 0,0)
    • Turn on all layers
      • Do not hit zoom extents yet
    • Using the scroll wheel, zoom out until you see the data you're looking for
    • Create a rectangle around the data if there isn't a line around your data already
    • Using Clip Lines command, remove lines outside bounding lines
    • Select the bounding line
    • Select All objects except the bounding line
    • Click Apply

This should make the data window scalable within TBC so that it functions as expected.

Certain data sets have extremely large horizontal extents due to some engineering practices of using random spaces in plan view to draw on virtual scratch pads. Issues can also arise when extreme elevation differences are present such as -1000000000000 and 1000000000000.

In the meantime, I am working with engineering to find a solution that makes the problem more apparent to the user so they can contact the originator of the file to be able to clean up the superfluous information that causes rendering problems.

For a visual reference, here is the file pre-cleanup:
