OK Rob, now that you menationed it, I did ask another Trimble tech a few weeks back if is there is any tolerances "on the fly" when doing the control/documentation measurements for the subgrades levels for roads, tighter tolerances the higher you get to finished surface, this is something that also is available on the "other equip", you can set/save your tolerances, usually 3 of them for "normal" road work here in Sweden and you see instantly if the "accumulated" sum of all measurements is within tolerances(basicaly you have to be withing +-30mm from teoretical level at the topmost/before asphalt, and according to formula below, not all laying on the + or minus side of teoretical level), surely this if something that is being practiced alsewhere in the world,(?)
formula:
s ≤ 15
x within 0 ± (14-0,40⋅s) mm
Gross error if │xi │> 30 mm

Just because we've not heard the request, doesn't mean it is not being asked for - some distributors are better at sharing requests than others - what some fail to realise is that unless they pass this on it cannot make it into the product, and if there are repeated requests for the same thing, then keep letting us know so that we know there are lots of requests for this.

Ok, thanks Rob for taking your time with this, not saying you are wrong, but this is something that is needed more than once every second year, having been away from road work for a while and now back, almost instantly this came up, have used this slope angle with other equip(other software/hardware...I'd really like to see the Trimble instrument opened up to 3rd party software!) and I'd say its quite relevant(essemntial was the word from a coworke(that uses the "other equip")) for the road works type of job I do every now and then where I work(Sweden). As said I talked to a Trimble tech the other day, he'd also put in a request for this slope angle, and he told me others have asked for it aswell, so yeah I think its needed, but hey thats just me...,
I did load a trimmed version according to you're instructions, did work(albeit slow(a 10km roadstrip))
I see that you rmethod works, its just that you have to tap in and double check your slope every now and then, or have a list where the angle changes,

Hi Kare, we've had one or two requests for displaying more design info during staking over the years, but no one has specifically asked for the slope - which is the reason we don't support this today. Now that we have configurable deltas, improving this becomes easier than it was in the past. But the question we always have to ask ourselves, is this the most important thing we should be improving in the software next? One request for this in ~20 years doesn't put this high up on the list unfortunately.
You said you wanted this for the asphalt crew when milling the road - for the odd occasion this is needed, what's wrong with my suggestion?
I'm not sure they average surveyor setting out roads would use this, feels to me like there are other more useful improvements we should be working on first.

Kare - I'm not sure I would follow Marian's advice.
12da files are primarily used only in Australia and NZ. 12da files are not actually roads, they are just strings, there is no concept of a road in the 12da file. 12da customers like to pick 1 or 2 strings, and work with those strings, not the road. So I'm really not sure a 12da file will help you at all here.
My recommendation for working with Roads would be to use LandXML. We have a topic in the TA help describing the process to export a LandXML file from TBC: https://help.trimblegeospatial.com/TrimbleAccess/latest/en/LandXMLroad-export-from-TBC.htm

Back to the original request, let me see if i understand you correctly, you want to review the slope of a road surface? If so then you can do this in Trimble Access Roads today. Make your road selectable, select the alignment and then tap Review, select a station then tap the Xsection button, a section of the xsection will now be highlighted, and the details including slope is displayed on the right. Select a different node, to see the slope of different elements.

By far the best format to export files to the road module in access is... 12da
TBC has 12da exporter in Construction Tab.
You can select lines / alignments / surfaces and export them as one file.

ok, so I do have the roads module/addon for the access, have not really used it until now, and now it's really needed, according to a trimble support tech I talked to yesterday there is no way of getting the slope angle in % for the finished surface, is there any work one can do to get this at any given cross section of a road? It seems like a feature that is much needed to be able to give the asphalt crew the numbers they need to prep("milling/grinding" before final layer) things properly.
also, I had some trouble with getting the road curves into access/road addon, in TBC and other Software it(a .xml file exported from other software) looks alright, but did not work for the road module, have had a look into TBC there is a lot of export ofptions, I tried the .RXL format(the for "linework" road option), but that did not work either, so what "native" trimble format should one use, it origin format is a .XML lines
