I have set up a new computer as an AWS EC2 instance, t3.large, running windows server 2019. The server has 2 cpus,  8GB RAM and 120GB HDD with 26GB free after installation of TBC.

I have no knowledge of the software but a regular user reported the same error which I am investigating.

I followed the instructions in Setting Up a New Project.pdf

     - I started Trimble Business Center from teh icon on the desktop

     - Within the the Projects Windows I clicked on [+New Project]

     - I selected <Blank Template> and pressed [OK]

     - After a couple of second I got the attached error

Any ideas what the issue could be?

I did install an older version of TBC on the computer that didn't work so I uninstalled that before installing the  latest version from the Trimble website which I downloaded form your site.

I then did a repair but got the same error.
I then rebooted and got the same error.

    Hi John,

Are you installing TBC directly on the server? TBC itself wont run as expected on any Windows server, though I guess you could technically run it on a VM with Windows 10/11 ( I would still expect issues with this ).

If you are installing on a dedicated PC running W10/11, this often indicates a issue with the graphics card driver so my first recommendation would be to update that.

When you reinstalled the new TBC version, did you just uninstall the old or did you also run the Cleanup Utility? If the above doesnt help, and you didn't run the Cleanup I would say do that next as it can help with installation issues. It can be downloaded here at the bottom of the page -  https://community.trimble.com/communities/publiccommunity?CommunityKey=9a5b084a-c0fd-43b3-ac9f-2b6ae2fdbdd5

    Jon-Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me. An older version of the TBC app has been happily running on windows 10 in our vmware environment for many years. We are decommissioning our vmware environment in favour of AWS ec2 which is why I'm exploring windows server 2019 in AWS.

I did try to install the older version of TBC onto the new AWS server but if failed to work so I uninstalled it before trying to install the latest version from this website. I was advised by a 3rd party supplier that the software would work on this newer server but would require the latest version of TBC and that our current license would support both the old and new version. It was not until we encountered the 'attempted to read or write protected memory' error that I started looking into it and discovered the cleanup utility. I ran that but perhaps there's still old registry settings and files from the older version still hanging around in the environment that causing the issue?

The lack of logs makes this very hard to diagnose.
