Discovered I was having the same exact issue with the same exact error the other day. Hopefully someone knows how to resolve.

@Francisco Guerrero , @Ed Levandoski any luck getting this resolved?

We updated to ver 2024.10. I no longer am getting the error however, now only the "Trimble Maps" logo comes up in the bottom left corner but the map itself never loads.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went through the old versions I have on my test machine, 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, 5.9, none of them work anymore. The first version the map starts to work again is 2023.10.

I vaguely recall having read at some point that they're going to lock out older versions, due to a change in the security protocol or something like that. It may have been in conjunction with Trimble Connect and a notice popping up in Connect Synch. I can't find it in the TBC release notes.

They do mention "Enhanced Background maps" in the 2023.10 release notes, but don't say explicitly that older TBC versions won't work anymore.

Tried again this morning. It reminded me of that sloth commercial but it did load the background map....... eventually.

    All,

This is probably a stupid question but can you confirm that you have a projected coordinate system and vertical datum set? If not, that would explain the maps not loading. Then again, it wouldn't give you a credentials warning but rather an extent warning. I have also seen the maps not load when you have a rogue point/line/entity way off in space at 0,0,0. Once that entity is removed, the map works again. Lastly, 5.60 is quite old. I would recommend being on at least 5.9x at this point in time.

Can't blame him for still being on 5.6. He saved a 5-figure amount in software maintenance. And frankly, there hasn't been too much improvement in the core product when it comes to basic usability, GUI shortcomings, CAD, plotting, earthworks, corridor modelling, FXL editor, no Propeller imagery, still rudimentary cloud inspection, still rudimentary IFC creation/handling that would justify the amount of money that our company alone spend in the last couple of years. That's all left to third-party to pay for macros nowadays.

I personally could probably still do with 5.81 or even below myself. Only the undocumented plotting text as text into PDF in 2024.10 is really something that catches my attention. Besides that, I've got a 50+ item list with reported but unactioned bugs and shortcomings.

    Ronny right on.

When I started here at the company, I am current at.  All 8 keys were stuck on 5.4 -5.7.  I never bothered to request for a license renewal as long as I had RPS I was good.  Im actually the only with the RPS tools.  Doesnt make sense to wait atleast 3 year before renewal as there isnt much difference between versions.  Now just wish Google Earth would update their images more or unless I can find a site that has updated images.

Just adding to that rogue entity topic. I finally found the issue I had with one of my projects. Didn't really matter since I used an UpToDate orthophoto anyway.

With everything enabled in the Viewfilter I had nothing showing up way off, or even at 0,0.

It was an old "Stored Measurements - Surface Volume Grid" that must have come through with a VCL, and its coordinates set to 0,0. Don't even understand why it needs coordinates.

The following prevents the background map to load.

Even weirder, the following DOESN'T prevent the map to load.
