Can you adjust the dimensions (size) of the Status Bar on a 4K monitor?

The Status Bar on my 4K main monitor is 'clipped'. The width seems fine but the height is cut off (see attached screen shot).

Is there a way to adjust this or is this a Windows 10 issue with scaling on 4K monitors? I can get Windows to scale text but the Status Bar seems unaffected.

We have people actively working on improving 4K monitor support - there are still some issues in v5.0 that are being worked. I apologize but I cannot say how orif you can solve this issue on a 4K Monitor - if you have the latest Graphics Drivers and Display Drivers for the monitor installed, and you have Latest Windows, BIOS and Computer Updates installed and you have tried a variety of settings - bear in mind that when you change Display Settings and Properties you have to Exit TBC and SIgn Out of Windows and Sign Back In again before all changes are fully reset - you cannot just change the settings or just Exit TBC and restart TBC - you have to do the full sign out. Sometimes when you do that the monitor works better.

I dont have any other advice on this - maybe there are other users out there that can comment on their experiences with 4K monitors - Guys .. and Gals ....

Alan: Thanks. Yes, have done 'all of the above'. I'd also be interested to hear if others have similar issues and what they have figured out.

Windows has well documented issues with scaling for high res monitors so perhaps we are dealing with a combination of factors.

    Thanks again.

When I change the scale factor I haven't noticed any issues here. I run TBC v5 on a 32inch Samsung 4K monitor and an Nvidia 960 graphics card pushing it and a Dell 24 inch 2K. I have Window 10 Pro for an OS. I have the 4K scaled at 150 pct and the 2K at 125. I can see the 4K at 125 but at 100 the icons and text is to small. I turned 66 on my last BD and even with prescription computer glasses it's to much work to see. I have the Advanced Graphics Options in TBC set at DirectX 11, the texture map size is Default, color mapping resolution is 1024, I use a framerate of 10fps, no anti-alias and samples per pixel at 4. There is a switch setting in Windows Display advanced scaling settings to let Windows try to fix scaling. I have that off. I have the window maximized.

Here are some Snagit grabs. The top is 100, then 125 and 150 on the bottom. Ignore the positioning and black edges.

    Hi Everyone,

I have a very agricultural solution to this problem. Its not perfect as you lose the sharpness of the TBC image but it solves the size / scaling issues. I right click on the short cut on the desktop and go to the compatibility tab. then i set to run this program for windows 7. I also go into Change high DPI settings and check override High DPI and select system. Once you run TBC again it will fix the scaling issue but you do lose some quality of the image displayed in TBC. Hope this helps and hopefully Trimble solve the 4K and high res screen shortly so we can get the best of both worlds!

    Guys,

I have found this work around seems to work best when using TBC on a 4k display.

1- Press Windows Button + R, type “regedit”, and then click OK.

2- Navigate to the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > SideBySide

3- On the right part of Registry Editor window, right-click to open a popup menu and select NEW > DWORD (32 bit) Value

4- Give it a name PreferExternalManifest, and then press ENTER.

5- Right-click on this new key PreferExternalManifest, and then click Modify.

6- Enter the value data 1 and select Decimal.

7- Click OK. Exit Registry Editor.

Please see screen shot link below which will illustrate how to do this.

Then, you will just have to copy attached file "TrimbleBusinessCenter.exe.manifest" in the same folder where "TrimbleBusinessCenter.exe" is If your TBC installation is done by default, the folder should be C:\Program Files\Trimble\Trimble Business Center\.

You may need to have Administrator rights to copy that file. If it is not the case, then ask your IT manager.

Then reboot your PC/Tablet and you should then get correct icon/menu size.

Also, you may need Admin rights to modify the registry.
