Create perpendicular lines along alignment

  • 1.  Create perpendicular lines along alignment

Hello, I'm wondering if its possible to create perpendicular lines along an alignment at certain intervals. I'm trying to draw in transverse joint lines along the longitudinal line.

    Thanks.

not certain about your end goal here. and i have not attempted this in tbc as usually we do this work in cad. but you should be able to draw tick lines at certain chainage intervals that should be perpendicular. in most cad software these can be drawn at different lengths. should be possible in tbc as well.

alternatively, you could create offset lines on each side and then snap lines to the nodes, and these should be perpendicular. you might need to "densify" the nodes on the alignment first, if you want even spacing. again this is a standard cad command and there should be an option in tbc. maybe others can help out with tbc specifics.

If you are using Rockpile tools they included a tool under the modeling tab called Create XLines.  It was a tool previously used in Terramodel that will create perpendicular lines at any interval you want and you can specify the length left and right of the baseline you are using.

Divide Lines works great if you dont have a RPS license.  This command also breaks the reference line at the intersection of the new created lines.  Its great that it can also create CAD point which you may want to explode to grid points.

Haven't tried it myself, but you could likely also create alignment labels an just copy them off to a different layer. The bottle neck of this is that is more for set intervals of say 10 and 25 and not oddball intervals. Though it will also label any HAL info.

Many ways to skin the cat:

    1) Label the alignment, set the interval bars to be as long as you need them. Export to DXF. Re-import to TBC.

    2) If you want odd intervals / Chainages / offsets just create a pair of points as a CSV showing chainage and offset and import them.

ANZ Toolbox - From Chainage Offset

    Then connect the points (autodraft)

    3) SCR free macros _SCR_ImportStaOffEl
