Createing Soild Objects In TBC

This is more of a enhancement request.

I work with our in house engineer who designs all of our structures in Revit and lately I have had him export out his models in ifc format and bring them into my site models.  I really love this because it just give a better look and feel of the project as a whole and how everything fits together.  The problem is when he is not the design engineer and I am creating models based off other engineers drawing I don't get these ifc files.  I would like to be able to build solid objects in TBC such and retaining wall, MSE walls, Abutments, curb & gutter and even pipe.  This would help build a more complete model where we can check for conflicts ahead of time.  What we run into is that firms usually have multiple people design the projects and there seems to be a lack of checking the design against each other for conflicts.  They push that onto the contractor to find the problems.  For instance, the project I am working on now is a pedestrian bridge across a four lane hi-way and in the embankment behind the MSE wall there is a CIP retaining wall.  The problem is that the PVC sleeves for the handrail posts are going through the footing of the retaining wall. now something has to be moved or the footing modified.

Now I have an idea for how a person could quickly build and shape and run it along a 3D stringline for control (or alignment for that matter).  I think you could use the "create Side Slope" command to do this.  That way you can build whatever shape you need as opposed to predefined shapes.  As I understand it now you can do this same process using this command but TBC is unable to make the shape solid it is only a surface.  A solid shape would allow you to check for volume as well.

    Its just a thought!

    Thanks,  Ben

Support for solids creation (and ability to attach attributes from external data bases) is an absolute must.

What we can do in TBC at the moment using corridors / side slopes / vertical design is very limited.
In order to create proper 3D models (watertight solids) we must export our linework / surfaces to Auto Cad Civil 3D and sculpt our 3D solids there.
Then we can use them back in TBC or chuck them into Trimble Connect to add customised attributes.

Right now with its extremely limited solid support and capabilities TBC is a bottleneck in the process of creating BIM models.

How are you getting your solids objects out of civil and into TBC? what type of file are you exporting that TBC will receive?

Furthermore, do you know if it's possible to exclude the volume of a solid from a volume analysis?    (ie:    i want to see how much gravel to order and place on site, and since we're burying matting, I wish to exclude that from the volume analysis)

TBC will import IFC. Just drag and drop.

Alternatively open your IFC in Trimble Connect for Desktop and convert to TRB. You can drag and drop TRB to TBC/Access.
