Export to DWG missing line types

  • 1.  Export to DWG missing line types

    Posted 24 days ago

    Hi,

not sure if anyone posted anything similar, however I was not able to find any related thread, therefore asking now.

When I export from TBC to DWG, the most line types are not showing properly in the DWG, they show as continuous lines although the line type seems to have been exported.

Does anyone know why this happen and if there is a fix for that?

    Thanks a lot.

    Regards,

    Fernando

    Bonjour,

Cela vient du type de polyligne, s'il il y a export en poly 3D alors Autocad affiche en ligne continu, par contre en export poly 2D le type de ligne s'affiche sur Autocad

    Salutations,

    Hi Julien,

thanks for your answer, however I tried all options, 2D, 3D, with different DWG and DXF versions, but the line types are shown as continuous in AutoCAD. Only some line types are shown as in TBC.

    Regards,

    Fernando

if you have those layers already in your autocad template then the imported lines, we usually just copy lines from the exported dwg to our production drawing, will default to the autocad template layer styles. this might be your problem.

but the 2d issue is also a problem. there is typically a command in autocad to turn on 3d linetypes. but also some advantages to use 2d in drafting, which is a common approach.

    Hi Ian,

    thanks for your reply.

This is the only way we found until now, but this works not because the master dwg cotains the same layers, but because it contains the line styles.

It's the same i.e. for blocks that TBC does not properly exports. If you open the master dwg and copy-paste (to original coordinates) the exported DWG from TBC, then the master DWG (actually the one where you paste the copied DWG objects to) "wins" against the copied objects, so then all will be shown as it should be.

However, not each customer has AutoCAD or similar, and anyway we expect from TBC a proper export of line tyes and blocks into DWG, it's a MUST! And it's difficult to understand why such a huge Software having been on the market at least since 2010 so far I remember, is 15 years later not able to properly export to the most used CAD Format in the World.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Fernando
