Feature Request-Import Format Editor-Attributes and Export Format that includes assigned media files from .vce to .vce and from TBC to C3D

Just out of curiosity why is there not a field for attributes in the Import Format Editor while there is one in the Export Format Editor? Occasionally projects need to be processed in separate files, but there is no simple way to get the point attribute data from one TBC.vce to another with all of the  associated attributes etc. In a simple .csv. Or is this possible to import this data as a shape file? The other issue is getting the pictures that have been associated with media file pictures from one TBC job to another and even more so from TBC to C3D.

    Thanks.

I'm also interested in the answer to this.

We have just recently got into recording photos with most points shot as required by project owner, and would really love to be able to do anything useful with those photos once they are imported into TBC, like export to some kind of spreadsheet with point coordinates, features, and photo file names, and even a link to the photos.

Wayne, you can make custom reports that include the attached pictures. I have created ones for aerial panels, manholes, control points, monuments, etc., but so far I'm still looking for a way to get those pictures and attributes from one TBC project to another and also into C3D. I'm not aware of how you can get the pictures into a spreadsheet, but that would be nice. So far the only product I can generate is the custom reports and you have to build those. It's easy, but you still have to build them.

i agree. we use regular custom exporter with attributes and it gives the photo name but a live link would be better.

we do also export a kmz from tbc with the photos. which mostly works. you need to activate your media files and points, so this is a bit cumbersome if you have many points in a project.

but getting something with a link to civil and other tbc job would be helpfully. also being able to actually embed the photo into a plan view would be incredible. not sure if anyone has any quick ways to do this.

I get where everyone is coming from. That being said, using the GIS module, you can begin and end in an ESRI GDB. The downside to this workflow is that you really need to have ArcGIS pro and installed and you need to be fairly good with that software. Images taken from the Trimble access data collector (in . job file structure) can then be synced directly into the Geodatabase through TBC and tied to the specific layer in question via Geodatabase attachments. I agree though..a nice PDF or XLSX report that has a point/line/area per page with attributes and the photo thumbnail would be nice.
