I am new to this forum, and new to the world of surveying.  I am an engineer, and have a good bit of experience in CAD.

    Here is my situation:

i have a 50 acre parcel of land that i am developing for my house and a separate equestrian facility (barn and riding arena) for my wife.  My land development engineering firm did a complete design and has given me the AutoCAD file.  my goal is to be able to stake out the various things on the CAD drawing, such as roads, buildings, etc, so that I can do my land clearing and dirt work.  I would also like to be able to mark on each stake how much dirt I need to cut or fill, for example, at a stake location I need to go down 2 feet, then I can mark that on the stake.

I bought the following Trimble items:
Catalyst DA2 with cm level subscription
    Penmap with subscription

I am having trouble getting started.  I uploaded the AutoCAD file into Trimble Business center.  It seems to have geolocated it.
It also seems that autoCAD files can be directly uploaded to Penmap
I am also reading about Trimble Connect

I just need a little direction of what I should be reading.  I don't need to learn tasks outside of my scope of this particular project.  I will not be doing surveying for a living.  But this particular project has hundreds of points that need marked, and I thought that it would be good for me to learn how to do this myself.

Can anyone help me get started?

    Thank you in advance

    Greg
