Feature Code Processing: TBC vs. Trimble Access

In TBC, I ran the Feature Code Processing on a topo. It returned several errors, which I then fixed. When I mentioned this to the surveyor, he said the linework appeared just fine on his controller with no errors.

This is a bit disconcerting, because now I wonder how I can be confident that the linework processed in TBC is exactly what the surveyor knows it looks like based on what he sees on his controller in the field.

I used to assume that the same parsing algorithms were used on the feature code regardless of whether it was TBC or Access. But based on this it appears that Access may have a more robust or forgiving parsing ability than TBC.

I welcome any insight or comments on this. Thanks!

    Hi Bob,
There have always been a few subtle differences between TA and TBC feature code processing unfortunately. We've been debating for a while who should change, as there are merits to both approaches. We have recently decided that we will change Trimble Access to match TBC. So there will be some changes to Skip, Close and Tangential/Non-tangential arcs in the next release. This may unfortunately mean some subtle changes to how you code in the field when using Skip, Close and Tangential Arcs, but it will mean you get the same results in TA and TBC.
