Can anyone confirm this is only available in the Drafting Module? This is a common issue with cleaning CAD files which is a common trait of Data Prep....

    Glenn,

Yes this is only available in the drafting module.

Bummer.... Any chance at getting this included with the Data Prep module? This is a necessary command for file cleanup....

According to the BC-HCE 4.10 Licensed Features.xlsm spreadsheet, Purge Blocks is available both in "Advanced Drafting" and "Total Station and GNSS" modules.

That is all good, but also does not really make sense.  It should be part of data prep.  Completely agree with Glenn on that Logic,  from a contractor perspective, who does a lot of survey data prep from "other" design software packages, using BC-HCE.

Trimble Blocks are cool.  Auto-desk Blocks drool.   If you can'd name them, and count them, then purge them.   @PUG

You can purge unused blocks in the project cleanup command and a lot more.  This command is secured to data prep.

Is this new to Project Cleanup in  v-4.1? We have been using Project Cleanup on v-3.52 and the "empty" layers remain....

Yes, but I was under the impression that the Purge Blocks command is not the same as this "Remove unused block definitions" option. It's over my head at that point though!!

The issue is in importing vector pdf data and the layer manager. The imported layers are deemed "protected" and therefore the layers that are not needed cannot be deleted. The "unused blocks" purge doesnt fix that. This is needed for contractor takeoffs or else the there is too much unnecessary data to deal with.

Imported pdf data is not in protected layers for me, not sure what you mean.
