Unfortunately the snaps are still not drawn in 3D.
Near line probably won't work in 3D, but most of the others do work, but you need to click close enough to the snap location. Perpendicular and segment end do work. The shortest distance, perpendicular, is what one requires most of the time anyway. Since usually the judgement for perpendicular is quite a bit off, it can be helpful to use the right-click menu -> perpendicular -> to line/segment.
If you only need the horizontal offset you could use "explore object", select the line and then click on the points in the cloud. For whatever reason that won't give you the delta elevation

Subject: Snap nearest to 3d pline in 3d view?
I want to measure between points in a point cloud, and 3d plines I pulled in from a dwg.
I can snap to the pts in pt cloud, but nothing seems to work on the 3d pline.
If I switch to 2d view, it snaps nearest fine, but that does not help.
I tried drawing a new pline and linestring, and the same issue, no snaps on them in 3d.
I must be missing something simple here, thanks.
