This is a problem that is going to be relative to a couple of factors:
- Temperature on the day you are processing
- How many stations you are handling in a single project
- How fast you are moving between setups
- What you are doing
If you are doing small jobs, in a cool environment then it
should be ok, however both tablets will overheat at a certain point either shutting down the unit or meaning a project can't be exported from the device.
We have done some testing and found it does heat up a lot for jobs where there are a lot of setups being shifted between quickly, it also heats up when it is trying to refine, colourise and export as well as export to a third party format, again the bigger the project the hotter it gets. We don't sell the T100 with the X7 for this reason and to continue to use the T10 tablet.
General rule of thumb we work off for the T10 tablet for Perspective is:
- For exporting a project from the tablet no more than ~160 scans should be in a project.
- If colourisation is to be done on export, it should be no more than ~120 scans
- If exporting to a third party format it should be no more than ~80 scans
NOTE: THIS IS BASED ON 2 MINUTE SCANS, IF USING HIGHER DETAIL SCANS THE NUMEBR OF SCANS RECOMMENDED WILL DROP.
The testing we have for the T100 did not improve on these limits.
One other thing to note here is that you can do bigger jobs, the project should be split up into smaller sections and running individual projects in each section.
I would recommend holding onto a T10 and wait until a more suitable solution is released.

Subject: T100 overheating with X7 ?
I heard that the T100 tablet overheats when used with the X7 scanner. Is that for real or just a rumor? I've seen some posts saying that the T10 overheats... but the newest one does as well? can anyone confirm this?
Thanks
