Hi all, 

Please could someone help with following ? It seems to me that is not possible to select objects and do bulk edit f.e. 100 layer and change Layer group for them or put some prefix for Layers names? It looks I have to edit layer group separetly fro each layer, is it correct?

You can do some bulk changes with the shipped functionality, and there are some things you'll need a third-party macro for.

You can select a bunch of objects and change the layer for all of them to a single common one.

You can bulk change the layer group of layers by either

• using the Layermanager - filter if necessary - bulk highlight with held Shift or STRG- change of layer group will transpire to all selected layers
• select a bunch of objects on the screen - use the properties pane - if you change the layer group the layers of the selected objects will all change to that group

Adding prefixes/suffixes or search and replace in Layernames/groups is not possible and Trimble doesn't care since there are pay-for third party macros available. I know it s***.

If you're located in the ANZ area you get the ANZToolbox macros for free if you buy TBC through the local Trimble dealer. Everywhere else in the world you'd have to pay for them.

Also, as a tip for renaming layers. I try to avoid using the notoriously slow Layer-Manager, unless you want to pre-filter the list. If it's just a quick change you can double-click the layer in the View-Filter-Manager.

With copy/paste that might still be a quick way to add prefix/suffix.

Which TBC version are you using?

If you have some specific examples, best with screen shots, I may be able to give you more advise.

These are not macros. They are commands shipped with TBC. You will need a license for the ANZToolbox module though (your dealer can provide you with a demo license).
