Attached you will find a example of linestrings and alignments created for storm water layout. These linestrings have been created using various methods that were once supported by Trimble Siteworks, but now either have issues or are no longer supported. Their are alignments generated to replace the linestrings as a work around, but doing so was an additional step that in my view should not be necessary. The issues are as follows:
See linestring named: __LAT A06, this linestring should have two "smart" or "enhanced" features applied to the line. First the addition of "__" at the beginning of the line name so that a "Begin Station" could be correctly applied, the horizontal cords of the line are all at an elevation of "?" or "null", and the line has been elevated in under the vertical tab. Siteworks currently does not recognize the begin station of the line any longer, and will not recognize the elevation of the line.
Next see linestring named: __LAT A08, this line string was drawn with additional nodes added to the inside edge of the junction boxes and elevated to the planned flowline elevation in the horizontal field (a truly corded line). However, since the ends are not elevated, rather the line is set to extend vertical: yes, Siteworks does not recognize the line is elevated.
Now see linestring named: __LAT A20, the ends of this line have been elevated to the same elevation as the nodes at the inside edges of the junction box, by elevating the end points Siteworks now recognized that the line is elevated.
Finally, if you were to redraw __LAT A20 by switching from Coordinate to Station/Offset using the alignment it wouldn't even be available in Siteworks.
Could someone please tell me when and why the features were removed?
