Thanks Ian,
We are pretty well established with CSV workflows. I'm trying to take advantage of the LandXML feature definitions. It's not just for surfaces and alignment geometries any more. :)
We are specifically targeting the Civil3D survey database and survey figure workflow. There are a few inconsistencies between line coding using Trimbles system (Curves, rectangles, circles), and how Autodesk Civil3D (and other mapping software) work. We are trying to establish a workflow so that what the field team sees in Access matches to what the office team sees in Civil3D (or product X) with as little editing as possible. Processing the linework and post-production edits to coding in TBC is much preferred. And we've found that if we can name the features to match the codes, the downstream workflow with landXML feature files flows directly into Civil3D, Carlson, or Open Roads designer for us.

i am not sure for xml export. but you certainly can make a custom csv export and pick which parameters you want. this is our workflow to get to civil. we also export a dwg with the linework and copy it into the civil drawing if we are not using civil figure lines and sometimes xml for surface info. i can see how the xml would make it one step. but for us it works breaking it up. we also export another csv with extra info for QA purposes so this is helpful in our case.

Subject: Trimble field to finish. Linework feature naming
When processing field to finish linework, the created line features are assigned the feature description from the fall, not the field code.
We would like to export the linework as processed / edited to civil3d using landxml features. We need the feature names to be the field code and not the description so that the civil3d matches the feature to figure prefix data base and assigns the corresponding figure styles.
Is there a simple switch / control figuration I'm missing to assign the code as the feature name in TBC?
We are preparing to code a macro to perform this change as part of the export to landxml if it's not already available in TBC.
Thanks for any input.
