Trimble Online Job File Converter no longer outputting JXL. Outputting only Trimble Access 2022.0 JOB file

  • 1.  Trimble Online Job File Converter no longer outputting JXL. Outputting only Trimble Access 2022.0 JOB file

    Posted 06-01-2022 15:25
I noticed the other day that the Trimble Online Job File Converter (https://surveytools.trimbleaccess.com/jobconverter) no longer converts an uploaded .job file (Trimble Access 2021.21) to a .JXL file.  The only option once you have uploaded the file is to convert it to a 2022.00 JOB file, which is unreadable without TBC.

Any ideas as to why this change was made?  I last was able to successfully use the Online Job Converter to convert a .job file to a .jxl file on May 24th, 2022.

Occasionally I need to look at a job file I have emailed into the office after the fact while at home and I am using a Mac at home.  The Online Job Converter made it possible to view the data in the job file, albeit cumbersome, but at least it was viewable.

Any ideas as to how I could still accomplish the same task on a Mac without the use of the current version of the Online Job Converter?

    Hello Sean,

Thank you for the post. I am checking if there was an intentional change made to either the webUI or the background conversion service.

I have just tested and found your statement correct that older job versions will only offer an upgraded job file as the output.

If you then try to convert the upgraded 2022.00 job file you get the option to export jxl.

The two step process may not be ideal but hopefully it is enough to allow you to read the contents.

    Regards
    Chay

    Chay-

Ahh, thanks so much for the tip about converting to the .job file to a 2022.00 version and then putting the newly converted 2022.00 version into the Online Job Converter and click convert and it will output a .jxl.

Process isn't ideal, but it works, which is great.  Hopefully they can modify the code to give you the option to up-convert or convert to a jxl .job files for versions prior to 2022.00.

    Thanks Again,

Now it will convert to 2021.1 2021.2 and 2022.0 job files.  I don't often use it so I don't know how many version options it used to have.

    Robert-

There has been no change in the Online Job Converter.  You are still not able to convert any jobs from versions 2021.21 or prior directly to a JXL file.  Currently you are only able to upgrade a job file to a newer version of Trimble Access (for example you can upgrade a 2021.20 version to 2021.21 or 2022.00, but the option to convert a 2021.20 or 2021.21 job file directly to a JXL file no longer exists, as it did previously).  However, as Chay kindly pointed out, you are able to convert a job file from a version prior to 2022.00 to a 2022.00 version and then put that 2022.00 version job file back into the job converter and it will allow you then to convert the file to a JXL file.

Hopefully they will return the ability of the Online Job Converter to directly convert job files from versions prior to 2022.00 directly to a JXL file in addition to a newer version job file.
