Trimble RXL and LandXML version #'s

Does anyone know why there are different version numbers when exporting an RXL or LandXML files?  I know about how RXL surface files needed work, but I'm just trying to measure the difference for a straight up alignment only.

Are there limitations to each version?  Is there a read me file to tell us what has changed from one version to the next?

Is there a reason why RXL alignments in my TSC7 Trimble Access project folder don't show up in Trimble Access General Survey list, but can be selected from the map for stakeout?  They are there when I use the roads module, but I also need to be doing tasks in general survey at the same time so I need to be able to switch back and forth between windows.

Also, Trimble Access request:  older versions of TA allowed you to stake a surface in the project folder without it having to show up in the map.  This is nice when the surfaces are large - and I don't need to see a color gradient or triangle network to know that I'm standing on the surface.  Now if I stake a surface it is automatically turned on in the map screen which bogs down and locks up the collector until the map is updated.

Thanks as usual for everyone poised to help others on this forum.

    Hi Dean,

I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.
The version numbers are XML schema version numbers (you could look up the xml schema to see the differences (if you really wanted to), there should be a link in the top of the file). Newer numbers will have updates to go with improvements we have added to Trimble Access. Always use the latest would be my advice. Trimble Access will read what it can, and ignore what it can't.

You should be able to see and use just the Hz and Vt components of an RXL in General Survey, and the templates as well in Roads.
But, your topic title referred to LandXML, is this what you were referring to here, or RXL?? In the currently released version you can only pick the LandXML file from the Map - but a new release coming soon, will let you pick them from the Stakeout menu too.

WRT the surface topic, does it help if you set the surface to only show the Outline?
We will need a sample file, and a clearer description of exactly what you are doing and where the problem is to investigate this further.

    Cheers
    Rob

PS - Next time it might be better if you post questions on the TA Field Software Community.
