Volume of material excavated below a surface

    Hello,

I'm trying to produce a report that gives a volume of material below a layer.

I have two layers. Layer 1 is stripped subsoil per contract. Layer 2 is all subsoil stripped. Layer 1 is created by the test bores. Layer 2 is created by grade points. The earthwork report shows a cut amount and a fill amount. I need to only show the cut amount.

    Is this posable?

    Thanks,

    Vic

    Victor

When comparing two surfaces, and each is above and below the other you will get both cut and fill.

You can cleanup your data or redefine your volume area to more accurately define your volumes.

You may be able to use Surface to Elevation to reduce/eliminate your fills; depending on your data set (flatness).

In any attempt to compare the two surfaces to each other, you are always given cut and fill. In order to possibly define your volume, you can without the slightest problem decide to possibly clean the data. This is where the Surface to Elevation option will undoubtedly come in handy.
