    Please. Someone. Give me a cogent reason why this command zooms extents? Is there a way to stop it doing that?

    Earlier this year, someone asked on this thread why TBC was doing zoom extents after every command.

    Someone else answered to check the "Zoom Extents when the filter changes" button that's next to the "Isolate Layer" button in the View Filter Manager.

    That apparently fixed their problem - so maybe it'll fix yours?

    Out of curiosity, I've tried to reproduce this behavior (auto-zoom-extents triggering on any command change) in v5.31, and can't.

    With both buttons "on" and creating linestrings in the selected layer, it never auto-zoom-extents.  Likewise, running Toggle Line Marking on and off, via both the status bar button and from the Command Pane, it never auto-zoom-extents.

    Have you had this trouble since you upgraded to v5.40?

    I installed TBC v5.40 (no patch).
    I created a blank VCE, created 2 linestrings.
    I can confirm that Toggle Line Marking now zooms to extents afterwards.
    This happens regardless of whether one or none of the linestrings are selected.

    Neither v5.40 nor v5.40.1 Release Notes mention Toggle Line Marking.

    Marshall - To answer one of your original questions - I can't think of any reason why it should do this.

    When reading marking, I'd expect to be zoomed into a specific area of linework, not zoomed out to see the entire site.  I would hope that this is an unintentional side effect.

    Have you tried the v5.40.1 patch?  If the problem is still there, I would definitely submit this as a bug.

    I despise this new behavior. Makes using line marking, which are absolutely necessary, very unproductive. 

    @Sanjeev Saha , @Gary Lantaff We deal in big jobs fellas with lots and lots of information. Feature and behavior changes may work fine in small sample sets, now apply them to real world production scenarios with massive amounts of data. You need to trust us when we tell you.... not so good.

    Using TBC every day, with a team of 4 using it every day, I have no idea who would truly have a use for that. When I want to see line markings, it's for a specific set of lines in my view area. Why would anyone want to see every line with a line marking on it with zoom extents? That's SO many line markings. Also, this is a very old thread and I believe it was a bug that was resolved!
