    Hi.

The last year (i think), sometimes when i import dwg:s the zoom goes out to MAX and the zoom function in businesscenter stops working. Probablu because i am to far out. This problem has occured the last year i think. Must have something to to with updates to BC, autocad or any other software. Is there someone else with this problem? Because i dont know how to find "tha bad guy" in the file and erase it. Anyone that know how to do?

I will post a file in here for you to try out. .)

@Fredrik Bergstrom I've ran into this problem too within the last month. What I've done is run project cleanup, isolate a single layer, zoom extents, click on something in that layer, enable all layers, zoom extents and highlight the areas outside of the highlighted, it should show in the bottom right something has been selected, delete them. Zoom extents and it should show your information now. That's the only work around I've been able to find. Let me know if you have any questions. Attached is my dwg in meters. I'm assuming that's what you're working in.

I ran into the same issue last week and basically used similar things Erik Peterson did. The file had been exported from an engineer using C3D as an Autocad v2010 file. After importing and zooming extents it went out approximately 16 light years. First I tried modifying the file in Bricscad and re-importing but it made no difference. Next with only the CAD layers selected I ran Project Cleanup. It left some objects at coordinate 0,0 but at least brought the project into a visible range. Like Erik I highlighted the area outside the project and deleted. After that zoom extents was just doing the actual project area. For the record I've been using v4.12 since it's release and until this incident I have not had issues with importing CAD files. In my opinion the file I was sent was not a "clean" file but still had some C3D items that showed as rectangular boxes with AECC labeling.

I just ran through the procedure using the Exide.dwg file. It behaved just like the file I had issues with. When I opened it in Bricscad a window opened with information about Proxies. The file seems to have been created with Civil 3D. Here's the info from Bricscad.

    The drawing has proxy objects.

I opened the file first in Autocad Trueview - there is some data in the lower Left corner and some data in the upper right corner - the data is a very long way apart.

I then opened the dwg in Autocad 2019 - the drawing shows up just fine there - so I selected the drawing objects and used wblock command to write a new DWG file of just the project data - when I import that into TBC / BC-HCE it imports just fine and I can get to work

I will have development look at the file and see if they can determine what is going wrong on the file import - but since Trueview also had the same issue as TBC / BC-HCE I guess that this is just not a clean file - and as you say it is locked with part of the drawing at Lower Left and you cannot Pan or Zoom etc. I assume that is caused because the numbers are so large for the coordinate range - you are simply getting a buffer overflow and that is locking up the graphics

I also imported the file into BC-HCE using Import command rather than drag and drop and set the units to mm rather than meters and then once imported I ran Project Cleanup first then I selected the 2x Ellipse objects using Advanced Select and deleted them and also selected the Blocks and deleted them also and then zoomed extents and there was an AEC object box and text at 0,0 which I also deleted and then I had the Project Data. I am not sure on which objects need to be removed but these are the most typical ones that cause problems - however I will have development take a look to see what they find

I took a good look at this DWG file in TBC v5 and BC-HCE v4.12 (same tools and same issues) and recorded this video on how you can use some of the BC-HCE tools to debug the file. Often Autocad based products will do some strange data things to hold information and use it in specific ways - we are not privvy to that information typically and have to work out what is wrong with the files provided using manual means.

The enclosed video shows you a few tricks that you can use to solve the data issues

    1) Using Zoom Precise to zoom into the 0,0 vicinity - then you can select and eliminate data that is sitting at or around 0,0 that is likely data that you need to eliminate to resolve this problem

    2) Using Selection Set Explorer to review the good and bad data remaining after elimination of 0,0 based data.

    3) Project Clean up will help also because it can eliminate zero length (yet very tall lines, or reset the elevations of those to more reasonable numbers so they can at least be reviewed. Use Select All and then Deselect the Good Data to isolate and review the properties of erroneous data objects

After completing these steps you are left with good data that can be utilized.

    Hope this helps

Thank you for the video. It helped with this issue and introduced me to some new commands.

    Fredrik,

This is my workflow as soon as I import the cad file.

    1) Select all and Explode all Blocks

    2) Purge Blocks

    3) Select all the object that I see in my working area on the screen, then do a inverse selection and do a Ctrl+D to delete any object that are outside of my working area.

This usually solves my zoom issues.
