Hello all,
I have used TBC for the past 5 years for Civil Roadway Projects. In the past the "Takeoff" Tab and its associated features have assisted me in bidding projects, then post-award I start the process of modeling for Rovers and Machine Control. Due to my workload, I am trying to streamline workflows and as such would like to build the construction model in the bidding process and forgo using the "Takeoff" tab and source the quantities for curb and gutter, asphalt, concrete, select granular fill, soil stabilization, etc from within the corridor. I have always created several Material Layers within my corridors for different subgrade surfaces and I know the Corridor Earthwork Report provides volumes for these when defined within the corridor, however, I don't see any takeoff of Area associated with these..
For things like curb and gutter it's not really an issue to calculate linear footage, but when there is variable depth and width asphalt fill in an overlay, its difficult to calculate Tons and widths from cubic yardage on the Corridor Earthwork Report..
This gets a lot more convoluted when we add the Maintenace of Traffic Staging where some of the area is constructed in different stages..
I guess the question I have is if there is a trick anyone is using to extract the same data I would typically see in a "Takeoff Report" and marry it with the " Corridor Earthwork Report", without having to go through the same rigors of building something twice
It would be great if the Engineers at Trimble would create a "Staging" Tab where a user could define a traffic stage and reference the needed corridor nodes to theoretically "construct" only corridor Nodes in that stage, then pair a takeoff feature with it to provide a model and quantity takeoff.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.. Im an island right now and could really use some solid guidance.
