Differing results with surface-to-surface earthwork report

Hello,

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

I have a project with over excavation of subsoil. I have three surfaces. Original ground, SLR Baseline (bottom of excavation per contract), and Completed Subsoil Excavation (actual completed excavation).

The original grade is the highest elevation.

The SLR Baseline is lower than the original elevation.

The completed subsoil excavation is the lowest elevation.

When I run a surface-to-surface earthwork report I get the following results:

OG to Baseline cut 5826.50 cubic yards.

OG to Completed cut 6818.0 cubic yards.

Difference between the above reports is an additional 991.5 cubic yards of cut material.

Baseline to Completed cut 1463.2 cubic yards.

Shouldn't the OG to Completed calculate to the amount cut from the OG to Baseline plus the amount from the Baseline to Completed?

I've uploaded a screen shot of the surfaces from the surface slicer and the three reports.

Looking at your numbers

OG to Completed Subsoil is 6829.1 cut

OG to SLR is 5837.4 cut

SLR to Completed Subsoil is cut 1468.9 and Fill 468

The balance equation is

6829.1 = 5737.4 +1468.9 - 468 = 6838.3 this is an agreement to 9cy

The OG - Completed Subsoil may not show the fill because it does not account for the fact that the slr and completes subsoil must cross over somewhere because you have a cut and fill number there  in the report.
