Export the point cloud to RCP format via TBC 5.60, the position of the point cloud is offset when imported into Revit

It seems that when I export a Trimble X7 point cloud (georeferenced) to an RCP point cloud file using TBC 5.60, the point cloud file is offset when imported into Revit.

Does anyone have the same experience?  Can you share with me how to solve this problem?

When referencing a point cloud in civil 3d, even with the insertion scale through "units" set to US survey feet I need to set the attachment scale of the RCP file to the fraction of US feet to international feet for it to come into the correct position. Look into US feet/international feet units/scaling in revit.  I've never used revit so I can't help on that end.

I've had similar experiences in C3D.  What solved it for me was selecting the imported point cloud and looking at its properties.  I found a rotation and offset right there in the properties, even after I selected defaults for insert point, rotation, and scale.  Resetting those to the origin brought everything into alignment.  I too can't speak to Revit, but check your point cloud properties for any edits or translations.  I think for me I had my template setup with an ortho view.  Somehow the rotation and panning of this default view affected how the point cloud imported during drag-n-drop import with an RCP file.  Hope this helps.

Hey Bruce,

I am missing some info, but I am still going to give this a shot cause we face this issue often in Norway when working with ARK's. Revit does not handle large or even full size coordiantes well. I see that you write that it is georeferenced. Could this be the issue? I think Revit only handles coordinates up to 30000 in X and Y, or around there, could this be the issue? If not I have also help ARK's import it correctly, by choosing the right import method and not always center to center.

Hope this was some what helpful.
